Equity Conference 2020

The purpose of this session is to engage participants in examining barriers to gender equity in educational leadership. Data indicate that only 25% of today's superintendents are women. What's getting in the way of more women and women of color becoming principals, assistants superintendents, and superintendents? Participants in this session will see national data and see the words of women interviewed when they were asked, What gets in your way?, and What support factors have helped you on your career path to leader? Recommendations are offered based on findings from interviews and additional research. These recommendations are for men and women to work together to build an equitable, culturally proficient system that serves all communities better than ever before.
